AHASEES SPA – Royal Feeling for your Body

by Namita Ramani April 1st, 2012

In order to evolve, we need the courage to take a chance and change something within us. Just like Grand Spa did, when they decided to come up with a new Spa concept and transform into Ahasees Spa.

When they invited me to come and review their spa, I was pretty much feeling that I won’t be disappointed. I liked the courage they had to take this step forward and their new philosophy resonated somehow with my inner self. Its concept, connected with the birth and evolution of Dubai, a city built on water, promised the guests a similar growing experience, able to make them flourish and evolve just like our city did.

So here I am at the very luxurious entrance of the spa, warmly welcomed by Charyl, the front desk manager, and invited to take a seat, while waiting for Rutu, the Spa Manager. It seemed I wasn’t the only one around, because he was already giving a tour to other guests willing to explore the Spa. I was expecting to wait patiently for a while, but Charyl offered to introduce me to the beautiful Ahasees Spa herself.

Just a few steps away, the outdoor swimming area was inviting the guests to take a refreshing bath, able to energize the body and wake up the sleepy spirit. Next to it, the recreation space with full complement fitness facilities and Technogym Equipments was waiting for the “action” to come.

The first step – a consultation. As it is most important for the therapist to know, before any spa treatment, if there are any particular areas to focus on or to avoid during the treatment. Every guest has to fill a consultation form, in order for the procedure to take place. It made sense, so I wrote down the form, excited to see what comes next, now that the door of magical indulgence was opened.

During the consultation, Charyl shows me the first key to this door – the music. The right sounds can turn a massage into a nirvana experience. It calms down your spirit, relaxes your mind and prepares the body to receive the rewarding energy of the hands. Ahasees knows that every little piece of the puzzle matters. As I was giving the option to choose my favorite music program from a Music Menu based on signature spa rituals, I preferred natural water sounds. Don’t know why, but personally I’m really fond of beaches and water sounds that seem to be dropping magic in my ear.

But the music was only the first selection to be made. And the second one was by far tastier. According to the Spa rituals, Ahasees offers its guests a wide range of teas among one can choose whatever suits the specific ritual, but also the personal taste and mood. In spite of their recommendation of Jasmine Pearl Tea, I found that an intensive Black Tea with blended spices like cardamom pods, star anise and cinnamon was more appropriate for my taste. I simply love the sweet aroma mixed with spicy flavors!

As I made my choice, Charyl, the front desk manager who had stayed with me the whole time, wished me a pleasant experience and directed me to the changing room where my relaxing fluffy rope looked like the promise of a heavenly experience. And I was planning to surrender myself to it!

Hannu was eagerly waiting to start my journey at Ahasees. The newly furbished room was looking so warm and cozy! But it was more than just modern design and good taste. Each room was “equipped” with a suit bath for the guests and the beds were so comfortable and relaxing, that I really felt like a lucky genie while lying down.

We began with a foot ritual. My feet where gently caressed with a combination of tea, sea salt and oils, that prepared them for the one-minute foot massage. It’s just one minute, you’ll say, but that minute can make wonders! It relaxes your muscles, dropping everyday stress by 50%, so you can be more open to the healing effect of massage and enjoy its every second. It prepares your body to take the best of it.

The crushed pearls blended into a salt cream base, provides a scrub that gently exfoliates and detoxifies the skin and, next to it, the seaweed and geranium bring the renewal you were looking for. But, unlike Hammam, this scrub is applied while still lying on the bed, using the same massage movements. After an almost 45 minute massage with the scrub and a warm shower, the pearl cream polish was ready to get in charge of my skin.

Now, that my skin was smooth and soft, the Pearl Balm body massage was about to bring it to the next level. This was more of a combination of long therapeutic strokes and Swedish message movements, designed to invigorate circulation and sooth the tiring muscles. I could literally feel all my exhaustion melting away, being replaced by a tranquil state of bliss and peace. It was pure pleasure.

I was already feeling great, but soon I was about to discover there was still place for more. The floatation bed was the final reward. All muscles were completely relaxed and even the word “tension” was forgotten. I just hoped for those minutes to last forever. No need to move your feet to swim, no need to swallow water, only the benefits of this feeling, only the pure liberation.

There were 120 minutes of pure bliss! When I came to my senses, I noticed the pearly shimmer of my skin. It was looking fresh and tonic, glittering in the light. I didn’t know at that time that the Pearl cream effect would keep the skin so shiny for the next two days!

As I was escorted to the relaxation lounge, my previously chosen spicy black tea was waiting for me. Its flavor woke up my sleepy, totally relaxed senses. I knew the journey in this fantastic world of sensations has come to an end but, no matter how sorry I was to leave the place, I couldn’t have imagined a better beginning of the evening.

Down there, in the relaxation lounge, Mr David, the Spa Director, together with Mr Rutu, the Spa Manager, were already waiting for me to have a quick chat. I bet my shiny face and smile told them more than my words could have because it took them only one look to notice and point out that I was relaxed. And I sure was…
