Beauty at your feet

by Namita Ramani May 1st, 2012

Sugar Urban NailsSugar Urban Nails is more than just another nice salon. Just as its name says, it’s an experience inspired and based on the attributes of sugar: the sweet care for your hands and feet with the energizing long lasting effect of the treatments. At least, this is what I felt like after choosing to review their Sports Relief Pedicure.

I went to the Mall of the Emirates branch of Sugar on a Friday. The salon was quite busy, but, in spite of this, they managed to accommodate me. At the very first sight, the place looked vivid and nice. The colorful lime green and reddish walls surround the white furniture with joy and optimism.

Before starting the treatment itself, I took a short look at their price list. Sugar is by far the most economically priced salon in terms of hand and foot treatments, not only compared to the other salons from the mall, but also to the rest I’ve seen. The manicure and pedicure is clearly cheaper (AED 100, instead of AED 140 – the cost of other salons) and the paraffin treatments cost almost the same, but for a double timing! And, as I was about to discover in the very next minutes, the quality of the service was exceeding the prices far and away. In brief, a really good deal!

The pedicurSugar Urban Nailse starts with a bit of callus cream. Applied gently all over the sole, it softens the dry skin, preparing it to be easily removed later. Just before the lemon grass scrub, an energizing gel is applied, allowing the scrub to better penetrate the skin and boost its effect. The feet are thoroughly rubbed, until they become soft and perfectly exfoliated. They are washed with water and a warm towel removes the residual cream. Now, they are ready for the next pampering step – the mask.

This lemon grass and cooling mint mask is a ten minute wonder. Like a magic wand, it relieves the burden of your tired, aching feet, for a sensation of complete relaxation. Once the mask applied, the feet are covered first in thick cotton booties and then introduced into electric booties. The warmth helps them faster absorb the mask, allowing it to penetrate deeper into the skin. After 10 minutes, once the booties removed, my feet looked so moisturized and renewed! And they stayed this way not just for an hour or a day, but for a whole week!

That’s why, especially for those people who run or do various sports, this foot treatment is a blast. But not for them exclusively! Whether you have a dynamic style of life or you simply like the glamour high heel look, this energizing pedicure is a perfect way to thank your dry, tired and overworked feet. I’d say, a Sugary way.
