After a hard juggling day at work, a spa treatment awaiting a review is all I wanted to put my deeply stressed muscles to ease. Mostly people think that, as I work in the Spa Industry and go for exotic spa reviews and audits, I have the best life one could imagine as I get all of it complimentary…which to an extent I agree but frankly going for review or a spa audit can get quite stressful. Specially audits actually cause muscle pain as more than enjoying the treatment as we have to be critical about the way Spa is being managed, and give suggestions to the spas to improve and give an overall high quality experience for their guests.
I was invited to review the luxurious Valentines Package of The Spa at The Address Dubai Mall – 50 minute soothing signature herbal pouch massage followed 25 minute revitalizing booster Natura Bisse facial (75 minutes of total bliss!).
As I arrived at The Spa (The Address Dubai mall), I was warmly welcomed by the reception and was asked to be seated while my therapist was getting my room ready. In a couple of minutes, I was greeted by the Spa Manager Mr. Sayeed, and whilst enjoying a refreshing herbal welcome drink(made of ginger, celery stick, mint leaves, green apple, and pineapple), we chatted about new treatments he has introduced in the Spa including the new Thai herbal pouch massage I was about to experience.
He explained, that the herbal pouch massage is a traditional Thai healing treatment using different Asian herbs of Plai, Turmeric, and Camphor wrapped in heated linen pouch, which is gently pressed and rolled to soothe and relieve stressed, tired, aching muscles and joints. Just then my therapist informed me my room was ready and was directed to the changing room to get ready for my treatment. I was then escorted to my treatment room, which was lit with soft lights and soothing music, comfortable bed with flowers arranged on it and invigorating smell of oils , my muscles already felt at ease. The spa treatment began with a foot ritual in which my feet were given a 2 minute exfoliation and then followed by the body massage
The ‘Herbal Pouch Massage’ was full body massage during which intensive heat stimulation of the skin is produced using a very hot herbal pouch. At the start of the massage the pouch is placed very briefly on the oiled body and then as it cools it is left for longer periods on the skin. To finish the pouch is run over the whole body using walking and rolling movements. The heat stimulus of the skin leads to a lasting stimulation of the immune system and therefore such pouch massages are traditionally carried out mainly in the cold season of the year. 
This is then followed by a deep tissue oil massage (Massage Oil- mixture of chamomile, jojoba & apricot kernel oil from Aromatherapy Associates) along with the stretching that balances the flow of energy to revitalize and rejuvenate mind and body. I personally feel a perfect massage is which brings you into a trance state and I must say my hyper active mind did relax and got into that blissful state.
This was followed by a Natura Bisse booster facial which included cleansing, toning, exfoliation followed by a mask & moisturizer. Natura Bisse is a luxurious brand from Barcelona offering products for facial and body treatments available only at luxury hotel spas. As the final moisturizer was applied to my face, my therapist informed me that we had reached to the end of the journey and asked if I enjoyed my treatment! I thoroughly did and left with a feeling of ease and relaxation. I was then escorted to the relaxing lounge, where I was served Jasmine tea with fruits. Nothing could be better then to end the experience with chocolate coated strawberries and a glass of sparkling champagne.
